That's the little sucker causing trouble.... Should be changed from the First day when you get your KTM. Mine resisted 80 hours! Changed it with a mechanical by Mino Racing. Read about it here .

KTM timing marks for Cams

Did you ever search the timing marks on a KTM which indicate the correct positition of the Cams in TDC? Well, here's the secret: Loook in the opposite side of the Timing chain for the two marks which have to be both visible when in correct position. If necessary turn you Cam until both marks are visible.

Got me this new protection from strong plastic over my radiator hose. I had it allready smashed once in the woods loosing all cooling liquid. As you can see in the picture it has allready some big scratches in it, nur it holds. If you have any questions feel tree to ask.

How to tension your Cam Chain using a mechanic Timing Chain tensioner

How to tension your Cam Chain using a mechanic Timing Chain tensioner... this one is from Mino-Racing This is the buddy from Mino-Racing which I mounted in my KTM four stroke. KTM uses from 2006 onwards a hydraulic Cam Chain Tensioner which gets faulty after only a few hours. I guess it is mandatory to change the original hydraulic timing chain tensioner with a mechanical one to avoid break downs in the middle of nowhere! In this short Video you can see all action it takes to tension your Cam Chain. You have to pre-tension it by hand first until the Cam Chain is firm and afterward give it another half to three quaters of a turn with the hex. After that you can fix the counter hex and be shure no problems will occur. Check your timing chain tension every 20 hours or with any valve clearance check!

Comparison of two Cam Chain Tensioners, also known as Timing Chain Tensioner.  KTM orig. hydraulic vs MINO Racing cam chain tensioner We have for comparison an original KTM hydraulic Cam Chain Tensioner and a mechanical Cam Chain Tensioner by MINO Racing. Why should I change the Cam Chain tensioner on my bike, it still works! Well, the reason for changing from hydraulic to a mechanical Cam Chain tensioner is for shure reasonable having in mind what it means when the timing belt slips only a few teeth off the Cams. Not only that the Valves could be bent, but they even can break and create big damage to the engine. In Motorsports, mostly Enduro, Hard Enduro and also Enduro Cross it happens during Competition that the motorbike comes to a halt or even the engine pops of. This is the moment when oil pressure drops leaving the hydraulic timing chain tensioner without Juice... Now the tensioner can colapse and leave a loose Cam Chain which can slip over some teeth if ...

How to control your Fuel pressure on all KTM fuelinjection Bikes This little video shows the measurement of the correct fuel pressure on a KTM Freeride 350.  We used a simple gauge for liquids, we used a lathe and machined a little fitting identical with the male end of the quick coupler.

Had a Cam Chain tensioner failure ...

After riding uphill I stopped and laid my FR down. Starting it up again, a rattling sound... end of story. ...fact is the hydraulic Cam Chain tensioner or also called the Timing Chain tensioner of my Ktm Freeride 350 stopped its duty cycle causing the Cam to turn over one tooth. Luckily on tooth didn' t damage the Valves, so the got no hit from the cylinder and didn't bent or even break. That would a been a disaster. This is how the Original KTM hydraulic Cam Chain tensioner looks like: Normally oil pressure is even too High causing too much wear of the chain. Testing my hydraulic Cam Chain tensioner on a flat table, pressing it down it remained blocked. It should not happen after only 70 hours. Conclusion:  I will grab a new mechanic Cam Chain tensioner from Mito Racing and get rid of any trouble and noises coming from my engine. Adjusting the new Mito Racing Cam Chain tensioner is pretty simple. I have put a little HowTo and review here.

Freeride primul furtun de racire spart

Asa cum ati vazut intr-un post anterior am protejat furtunul de racire a Freeride-ului cu o spirala de otel , care a oferit un grad de protectie impotriva loviturilor. La ultima iesire cu trupa am facut ceva pregatiri, sau track scouting pentru un eveniment si dupa ceva baraiala pe dealuri am intrat intr-o vale. Am dat de un parau secat care parea destul de interesant pentru a-l adauga la traseu. Inaintand pe parau in sus, am dat de o treapta din stanca de aproc 60cm, nu prea inalta sa nu poti urca, dar cu niste alte stanci colturoase si taioase pe partea dreapta. Deci, am urcat prin acea stramtoare, dar cand am ajuns sus, imediat am observat apa care curgea din motor. Am atins acele stanci laterale la urcare si mi-au sectionat, respectic mi-au sfartecat furtunul complet. Shit happens...Spirala de protectie s-a indoit. Evident ca inaintarea a fost imposibila fara lichid de racire asa ca m-am intors, impingand Freeride-ul pana la intrarea in vale, de unde m-au ajutat prieteni...

KTM Freeride - Fuel Injector

Injectorul de carburant la KTM Freeride 350 - O piesa prea sensibila! Injector KTM Freeride 350 Din pacate orice lucru bun are si dezavantaje, cum ar fi Injectia electronica a KTM-ului. Cum ati mai citit sigur pe net sunt multi care au avut probleme cu acest aspect si au fost nevoiti sa traga pe dreapta si sa astepte service-uri scumpe pentru a remedia problemele. Va povestesc putin despre acest sistem de injectie si sper sa aduc cateva info cum sa evitam probleme in viitor la sistemul de injectie KTM. Ce este interesant de stiut ca sistemul de la pompa de carburant care se afla in rezervor si pana la injectorul propriu-zis avem instalate patru filtre si site!!! Deci filtru pentru filtru...LOL!!! Unu: Pompa de combustibil are in sorbul ei o sita care nu se vede decat dupa ce faci pompa bucati si dai jos sorbul negru din plastic tinut de patru urechiuse. KTM Freeride 350 Furtun de la radiator expus

KTM Freeride - Furtunul radiator La acest model furtunul de racire care pleaca din pompa la radiatorul motorului este expus la impact si risti sa-l spargi. Cum poti evita acest lucru afli aici. Original Freeride-ul a fost gandit pentru Trail-riding, dar din ce in ce mai mult este folosit pentru Hard-Enduro. Acest fapt ne obliga sa gasim solutii pentru componentele expuse. Iata cum arata acest furtun in original vebnit din fabrica fara nici o protectie. Am gasit acest clip pe Youtube care ne arata ce se poate intimpla cand se sparge, si mai ales cat de repede se poate sparge furtunul dintr-o simpla imprejurare. La 7:50 vedeti cat de repede poate veni necazu...  Iata solutia simpla pentru protectia furtunului, hose protection cum spune americanu! Aplica o spirala din otel peste furtunul de radiator la KTM Freeride, care va proteja furtunul de impact si de eventuale crengi sau alte obiecte patrunse intre motor si furtun. Asa arata acest MOD facut de mine pentru Freeri...

Benzina cat mai rece...

Benzina cat mai rece... Benzina dezvolta randamentul cel mai bun daca ajunge in camera de ardere la o teperatura cat mai mica. Izolarea rezervorului la acest KTM Freeride 350 este realizat cu folie de aluminiu autoadheziva. Liner-ul de aluminiu se muleaza foarte bine pe formele rotunjite ale rezervorului si reflecta prin proprieta sa caldura provenita de la motorul aflat direct sub rezervor.
